Sandy Lane Barbados: The Epitome of Old World Caribbean

Once a playground for British royalty, Today Sandy Lane is the epitome of Caribbean old-world luxury and caters almost exclusively to those looking for utmost perfection.

What makes Sandy Lane revered as one of the most luxurious properties in the Caribbean? For one thing, service is formal and extravagant. A chauffeured Bentley picks you up from the airport, as valets unpack your luggage, and bring you refreshments while you sunbathe. The scenery is also breathtaking. There’s a relatively uncrowded swath of beach, and well-landscaped tropical gardens surround the main coral limestone building. Guest rooms are full of dark wood, cream marble, heavy curtains and Napoleonic canopy beds with “SL” embroidered sheets, creating an old world Caribbean atmosphere. The hotel is well appointed and effortlessly luxurious.

The lavish offering of amenities really set Sandy Lane apart. The hotel boasts three golf courses: the #TomFazio designed #CountryClub, the nine-hole Old Nine and the #GreenMonkey, also designed by #Fazio and generally considered the best on the island. #L’Acajou, the most formal of Sandy Lane’s four restaurants, always lands top culinary talent. The 47,000-square-foot spa and a collection of boutiques, including the Gatsby, which carries brands like #LaPerla and #Moschino, leave discerning guests wanting for nothing.

Sandy Lane pulls off an unusual feat by being one of the most glamorous and one of the most child-friendly hotels on #Barbados. The resort is perfect for a #familygetawaydestination. The Luxury Dolphin Suites, Luxury Orchid Suites, and Penthouse Suites are all two-bedroom accommodations and can connect to form larger three and four bedroom units. The 7,300 square foot, five bedroom Sandy Lane Villa comes with its own chef, housekeeper and nighttime security guard. This being the perfect accommodation for a destination wedding or family reunion.

I can remember when I was was just 19 years old and started visiting the #Caribbean. I read about this #SandyLane and knew this was an experience I wanted to have. My stay came shortly after and Sandy Lane lived up to the hype of being the epitome of luxury and a true iconic #Caribbean resort.
